This just in. Chris Sale traded to Red Sox for top prospects Yoan Moncada and Michael Kopech, along with the two others. I was actually in the process of doing a pitching mechanics analysis on Chris Sale when I read this on MLB’s website. I began to think how bad of a long term investment this will be for the Red Sox.
Sale has one of the most unorthodox deliveries in the game. He showed signs of wear this year with a stint on the DL and past years with complications in both his elbow and shoulder. I believe this is the beginning of a break down. This unfortunately will be Boston’s problem to deal with in 2017 and beyond. Look for some major issues within the next two years. If Sale doesn’t take care of his rushing habit among others it will be money not well spent for the Red Sox.
My advice for the Red Sox would be to go after lower risk investments with high returns such as Justin Verlander, Felix Hernandez, Jake Arrieta, etc if they are going to go after a top of the rotation starter. I will be finishing my analysis on Chris Sale within the next few weeks and further explain why this is a bad investment for the Red Sox. Till next time.
